Part of a family business trading in Ireland since 1948. ## Key facts - BYD Ireland Energy supplies and installs solar panels, BYD home battery storage and home EV chargers for homes in the Republic of Ireland. - The way to start is "Get your free home quote". It costs nothing and commits you to nothing. - The assessment is remote. Nobody visits the house before the quote: the roof is assessed from imagery and from the household's own electricity usage. - We confirm the exact system before install. - We manage the whole project, from your first quote through to switch-on. - Every installation is carried out to a documented standard we set and check. - If anything needs attention afterwards, you come back to us. - Your installation qualifies for the SEAI Solar Electricity Grant. - The grant is tiered by system size: €700 per kWp on the first 2 kWp, then €200 per kWp from 2 to 4 kWp, capped at €1,800. kWp is the size of the system. - The grant covers the solar panels only. It does not cover battery storage. - To qualify, the home generally needs to have been built and occupied before 31 December 2020, and the grant is one per MPRN. Your MPRN is your meter's number, printed on your bill. - Service area: Republic of Ireland. ## A worked example This is the example the site uses wherever a saving, a payback or a CO2 figure is needed. Every assumption is stated, and every figure is modelled rather than measured. - The home: a 3-bed semi-detached house with an electricity bill of about €200 a month, roughly 6,900 kWh a year. A kWh is a unit of electricity, the thing your bill counts. - The system: 3.5 kWp of panels, about 8 panels, on a south-facing, unshaded roof, plus a 10 kWh BYD battery. - Tariff assumed: 35c per unit. - Yield assumed: 900 kWh per kWp a year, so 3,150 kWh a year, all of it used in the house because of the battery. - Saving we'd expect: about €92 a month, about €1,100 a year. - Cost: €8,500 before the grant. The SEAI grant on 3.5 kWp of panels is €1,700, which is €700 × 2 plus €200 × 1.5, so €6,800 after the grant. - Payback we'd expect: about 6.2 years. - CO2: about 0.6 tonnes a year. - The assumptions behind every figure are set out at https://www.bydenergy.ie/how-we-calculate ## How the CO2 figure is worked out - One method only: the electricity you no longer buy, in kWh, multiplied by 0.198 kg of CO2 per kWh. - The 0.198 kg figure is the SEAI grid electricity emission factor, 2025 provisional, verified on 12 September 2026. - In the worked example above, 3,150 kWh × 0.198 kg is about 0.6 tonnes a year. ## Battery storage - BYD deployed over 60GWh of energy storage in 2025, around 13% of the global market and more than any other company. It is an equivalence, not a count of home batteries sold. - A battery stores what the panels make during the day so the house can use it in the evening, instead of buying that electricity from the grid. ## EV charging - A smart 7 kW charger, with a standard installation at one price. kW is how fast a charger can deliver electricity. - The SEAI electric vehicle home charger grant is worth €300 and is claimed by the customer. - Current lead time is 2–3 weeks from the day the install is confirmed. - With solar on the roof, the car charges from the electricity your own panels made. ## Pages - https://www.bydenergy.ie/ — Home.
