Solar grants are one of the biggest reasons Irish homeowners go solar, but the figures change, so here's exactly where things stand in 2026.

How much is the SEAI solar grant?

The SEAI domestic solar PV grant is worth up to €1,800. It's tiered by system size: €700 per kWp for the first 2 kWp, then €200 per kWp from 2 to 4 kWp, capped at €1,800.

As an example, a 2.5 kWp array attracts around €1,500 of grant support, and a 4 kWp system reaches the full €1,800 cap.

Is battery storage grant-aided?

No. There is no standalone SEAI grant for home battery storage in the standard scheme. Battery is a paid add-on, but it's the part that lets you actually use your solar at night and keep the lights on during an outage, so most homeowners still add one.

Who qualifies?
